President’s Aloha Welcome Reception

Wear your favorite Aloha cocktail attire and join your fun loving colleagues along with President, Dr. Sia Daneshmand and his wife Dr. Neda Shamie, for a festive Island style welcoming to the meeting at the Hyatt Maui's spacious Napili Gardens.
Enjoy Hawaiian music, artisan craft stations, tropical drinks, reception-style food stations and light bites as you reconnect with friends and colleagues and settle into the spirit of Maui.
Please note: This is a festive welcome reception with cocktails and reception-style fare; a seated or full dinner will not be served. Food service 6:30 to 8pm.

Celebrate the friendships, camaraderie, and community that make SurgeWest so special at our grand finale under the Hawaiian sky. This festive, casual evening will feature a reception-style dinner with an array of food stations, live music, Hawaiian entertainment, drinks, and plenty of island fun.
Relax with friends and colleagues, and help us bring an incredible week in Maui to a memorable close.

It’s wonderful to be back at the Hyatt Regency Maui. We were here last in 2006!
Your Spouse /Guest Registration includes badge, tickets to spouse/guest hospitality at Japengos (Sun‐Thurs), happy hour events, admittance to the exhibits, and a ticket for the Sunday President’s Aloha Welcome Reception. Hospitality Lounge will feature a nice breakfast Sunday to Thursday in the Japengos Restaurant where we will have the opportunity to meet for breakfast. Come early for best seating and meal selection and allow time for visiting. Food Service: 7:30 AM‐ 9:00 AM & Hospitality Hours: 7:30 AM – 9:30 AM

If you do not have tickets, they may be purchased at the Registration Desk, subject to availability. The Hukilau will be outdoors at the Halona Kai event area and feature beach vibes entertainment and a lots of great food and libations!
Children: Families are welcome at the Western Section. A registered spouse/guest may bring their own children (age 5 and under, max 2) at no extra charge to the spouse/guest hospitality for breakfast, but you must let us know the number of children for food/seating purposes, max of 2 per registered spouse/guest - if above that you must buy tickets. The ability to offer children age 5 and under seating at no charge is subject to to capacity limits and will no longer be available once that point is reached. Children over age 5: tickets (age 6-20) are also available below - subject to sell-out. Children under 16 are not allowed in the exhibit hall or sessions.

Physican access to the Spouse/Guest Breakfast:
The Spouse/Guest Breakfast is reserved for registered spouse/guest attendees and Club West participants. Physicians have a separate breakfast provided with their meeting registration. Physicians wishing to attend the Spouse/Guest Breakfast must purchase a guest ticket or Club West upgrade in advance.

Urology and Litigation: Navigating an Unfamiliar Space
Dr. Loh Doyle will speak on his experience, as being named in a lawsuit early in his career, on how to navigate this kind challenging situation, and how he learned to protect himself clinically but also engaging as an expert witness. “Litigation” is The ugly “L word” which is not taught about it in medical school or residency but it is a reality of the US healthcare system and most, if not all, surgeons will be named in a lawsuit at some point in their careers. Learn how to be best prepared.

Advance restaurant reservations are strongly recommended. Take a look at the directory link to find a culinary experience to your liking, or below for a locals take on some favorites:
1) Mala Front Street on the water (behind Safeway) Great food & late night entertainment. Great breakfast & coffee beans!
2) Pour House - great Italian food in Kapalua w/ guitar play evenings.
3) Monkey Pod- best Mai Tais on Maui. Food is great in Whalers Village.
4) Sensai - seafood & sushi (Kapalua). 1/2 price Sunday & Monday, 5 - 6pm. Line up ~4pm to get in b4 5am. 1/2 price only until 6pm.
5) Hula Grill - very casual with really good food & service in Whaler’s Village on the sand.
6) Star Noodle - excellent Asian food. Family style, great w/ larger groups. Butter fish, garlic noodles, Vietnamese crepe, pork shumai, Japanese whiskey, etc.
7) Merriman’s, Kapalua great seafood, (near Ritz Carlton)
8) Sea House Restaurant- great breakfast (homemade corded beef hash), Napili Bay
9) Gaezbo Restaurant, great breakfast, macadamia nut pancakes, 30-60 minute outside, Napili area
10) Papa Ohana’s cinnemon rolls small bldg located across the street from Times Market, Napili. Large sugar & great to split, but the best cinnamon rolls.
